FAQ
Everything you need to know about our fishing lines, OEM services, and partnership programs.
Products & Performance
What types of fishing lines do you manufacture?
We specialize in four main product categories: braided fishing line, fluorocarbon fishing line, nylon monofilament line, and customized fishing line solutions. Each product line is engineered for specific fishing environments, from saltwater applications requiring high abrasion resistance to freshwater setups demanding sensitivity and control.
How do you ensure consistent breaking strength across production batches?
Every production batch undergoes rigorous tensile performance testing to verify breaking strength against specified standards. Our quality control team tests samples throughout the production run -- not just at the end -- to catch inconsistencies early. We also maintain strict diameter control, because consistent diameter is directly linked to predictable and reliable strength performance.
What makes your fishing lines suitable for saltwater environments?
Saltwater fishing demands lines that can withstand abrasion from rocks, reefs, and underwater structures. Our lines designed for saltwater use undergo dedicated abrasion resistance testing to simulate real fishing conditions. We optimize the material formulation and coating processes to deliver enhanced durability, UV resistance, and corrosion-resistant performance that saltwater anglers depend on.
How do you test knot strength, and why does it matter?
Many fishing failures happen at the knot -- not along the line itself. That is why we conduct dedicated knot strength testing as a separate quality checkpoint. We evaluate knot retention under load to ensure the connection point performs reliably. This testing directly reduces the risk of line failure at the critical moment of a catch, protecting both the angler's experience and your brand's reputation.
Do your fishing lines have issues with line memory?
Line memory is one of the most common complaints anglers have about monofilament products. We address this through careful material selection and controlled production parameters during extrusion. Our formulations are optimized to minimize coil retention while maintaining the strength and flexibility characteristics required for each product type. For brands targeting performance-focused anglers, we can further customize the memory profile to match specific requirements.
What is the difference between your braided line and monofilament line?
Braided fishing line is constructed by weaving multiple strands together, which delivers superior strength-to-diameter ratio, near-zero stretch, and excellent sensitivity -- ideal for detecting subtle bites and fishing in heavy cover. Nylon monofilament is a single-strand extruded line offering natural stretch, good shock absorption, and easier handling at a more accessible price point. The right choice depends on the fishing technique, target species, and angler preference. We can help you select or develop the right product for your specific market.
What is fluorocarbon fishing line, and when should it be used?
Fluorocarbon line is made from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) material, which gives it a refractive index close to water -- making it nearly invisible underwater. This near-invisibility makes fluorocarbon the preferred choice for leader material and clear-water fishing where line visibility can spook fish. It also offers excellent abrasion resistance and low water absorption, maintaining consistent performance throughout a fishing session. It is particularly popular for rock fishing (iso fishing) and situations demanding stealth and durability.
What strand counts are available for your braided fishing line?
Our braided fishing line is available in multiple strand configurations, commonly referred to as 4X (4-strand) and higher strand counts. The "X" designation indicates the number of strands woven together -- for example, a 4X braid uses 4 strands. Higher strand counts generally produce a rounder, smoother profile that casts more quietly and wears more evenly through rod guides. We can advise on the most appropriate construction for your target fishing application and price point.
What spool lengths and packaging options are available?
We offer a wide range of spool lengths to suit retail and bulk distribution needs. Standard retail spool options include 50m, 100m, 150m, 200m, and 300m. For bulk orders, we also supply loose line by the kilogram (bulk/spool-less format), which is common for distributors who re-spool for their own retail packaging. Specialty products such as spot line (speckled nylon) are available in 5000m bulk lengths. We can accommodate your preferred packaging format as part of our OEM service.
Do you offer dual-color and speckled nylon fishing lines?
Yes. In addition to standard clear and solid-color nylon lines, we produce dual-color nylon line and speckled (spot) nylon line -- both part of our QH series. Dual-color lines are popular for depth and distance reference during fishing. Speckled lines offer a natural camouflage appearance that can be advantageous in certain fishing environments. These specialty nylon products are available in bulk lengths and can be customized with your brand's color scheme and packaging.
What is your PT50 abrasion-resistant iso fishing line?
The PT50 is our dedicated abrasion-resistant line engineered specifically for iso fishing (rock fishing / surf fishing). Iso fishing exposes lines to constant contact with sharp rocks, barnacles, and rough reef structures, demanding exceptional abrasion resistance above standard monofilament performance. The PT50 is formulated to withstand these harsh conditions while maintaining the handling characteristics that iso anglers require. It is a popular product for brands serving Japanese, European, and coastal fishing markets.
How does diameter consistency affect fishing line performance?
Diameter consistency is one of the most important -- yet often overlooked -- quality factors in fishing line production. An inconsistent diameter means the line has weak points where it is thinner than specified, which can cause unexpected breaks under load. It also affects casting distance and accuracy, spool capacity, and the accuracy of the product's labeled specifications. Our production process includes continuous diameter monitoring to ensure every meter of line meets the specified tolerance, giving anglers predictable performance and giving brands a product they can stand behind.
Can your lines be used for heavy-duty or big game fishing?
Yes. We produce fishing lines across a wide range of breaking strength specifications to support heavy-duty applications including offshore fishing, big game trolling, and deep-sea fishing. For these demanding applications, we focus on delivering higher breaking strength, reliable knot performance under extreme load, and resistance to UV degradation from prolonged sun exposure. If your brand targets heavy-duty fishing markets, contact us to discuss the specific strength and performance requirements your customers need.
What casting performance characteristics do your lines offer?
Casting performance is influenced by line diameter, surface smoothness, stiffness, and memory. Our nylon monofilament lines are formulated to offer smooth, consistent casting with minimal wind knot tendency. Braided lines provide excellent casting distance thanks to their thin diameter and low stretch. For brands that specifically market casting performance as a selling point, we can work with you to fine-tune the line's surface treatment and flexibility profile to optimize casting distance and accuracy for your target angler's setup.
OEM & Customization
What OEM and private label services do you offer?
We provide comprehensive OEM and ODM services to help fishing brands bring their products to market. Our customization capabilities include:
- Custom logo printing on spools and packaging
- Private label packaging designed to your brand standards
- Custom colors to match your product line identity
- Custom specifications including diameter, strength, and length
- Product development support from concept to production
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for OEM orders?
MOQ varies depending on the product type, specifications, and level of customization required. As a general reference, standard clear nylon spool line without special processing starts from 40 spools per specification. For products requiring additional processing such as dyeing or softening treatments, MOQ may be higher and is confirmed case by case. Bulk loose line orders generally start from 1 kilogram per specification. We work with customers at different stages of growth and encourage you to contact us directly to discuss what works for your business.
Can you develop a completely new fishing line product for our brand?
Yes. Our ODM capability means we can take your product concept from idea to finished product. Every new project starts with understanding your target fishing environment, angler profile, and performance goals. Our R&D team then develops formulations and specifications to match those needs. We handle prototyping, performance testing, and refinement before moving to full production -- ensuring the final product genuinely performs for your customers.
How long does the OEM production process typically take?
Lead times depend on the complexity of the order. For standard products with custom branding and packaging, production typically takes less time than fully custom product development. New ODM projects involving unique formulations or specifications require additional time for prototyping and testing. We recommend contacting us early in your planning cycle. Once we understand your requirements, we will provide a realistic production timeline to support your launch schedule.
Can you customize line color for our brand's product line?
Yes. Color customization is one of our most requested OEM services. We can produce fishing lines in a wide range of colors -- from natural clear and translucent tones to vivid high-visibility colors and multi-color patterns. Color choices are often tied to fishing application: high-visibility colors help anglers track the line during casting and drifting, while natural tones are preferred for stealth presentations. Note that dyeing and color treatments may affect MOQ thresholds, so we recommend discussing your color requirements early in the planning process.
What spool design options are available for our private label product?
We offer customized spool design as part of our private label service. This includes spool shape, color, and printed label design featuring your brand logo, product name, specifications, and any regulatory or marketing information required for your target market. A well-designed spool is an important part of your product's retail presentation and brand identity. Our team can work with your design files or assist with spool label layout to create a finished product that looks professional on the shelf.
Can you supply both retail spools and bulk loose line for the same product?
Yes. We can supply the same line specification in both retail spool format (50m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 300m) and bulk loose line by kilogram. This flexibility is useful for distributors who serve both retail customers and tackle shops that re-spool their own product. Bulk loose line is also cost-efficient for customers who manage their own packaging and spooling operations. We can discuss the best supply format for your distribution model.
Do you provide product development support for brands new to the fishing line market?
Absolutely. We regularly work with brands that are entering the fishing line category for the first time. Our team can guide you through product selection, help you understand the performance trade-offs between different line types, advise on specifications suited to your target market, and support the development of a product range that is competitive in your price segment. You do not need deep technical expertise to work with us -- we bring the manufacturing knowledge, and you bring the market understanding. Together we build the right product.
Can you apply softening treatments to nylon monofilament for our OEM order?
Yes. Softening treatment is one of the processing options available for nylon monofilament orders. A softer line improves handling, reduces line memory, and is often preferred by anglers who fish with lighter setups or in cold weather conditions where standard nylon can become stiffer. Please note that orders requiring softening treatment may have different MOQ requirements compared to standard clear line. Discuss your requirements with us and we will confirm what is achievable within your order volume.
How do you protect our brand's product designs and specifications?
We understand that your product formulations, packaging designs, and brand specifications are proprietary assets. We are happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before detailed product discussions begin. Our business is built on long-term partnerships, and protecting our customers' intellectual property is fundamental to maintaining the trust those partnerships require. Please raise any confidentiality requirements when you first contact us and we will address them promptly.
Can I order multiple line types under a single OEM contract?
Yes. Many of our customers source multiple product types from us under a single supply relationship -- for example, combining braided line, fluorocarbon, and nylon monofilament into a complete fishing line range under one brand. This one-stop approach simplifies sourcing, reduces supplier management complexity, and ensures consistent quality standards across your entire product line. We can coordinate production scheduling and consolidate shipments to make the logistics as efficient as possible for your business.
Quality & Certifications
What quality control processes do you follow during production?
Our quality control process covers four critical performance areas: breaking strength testing, knot strength testing, abrasion resistance testing, and diameter consistency control. Each of these checkpoints is designed around real fishing challenges rather than just factory metrics. Our QC team has 5+ years of experience in fishing line production, and all products are tested before shipment.
Do your products meet international quality standards?
Yes. Our production processes are aligned with international quality standards, and we provide professional export support to help customers navigate import requirements in their markets. If your market or retail channel requires specific certifications or testing documentation, please contact us to discuss your requirements -- we are experienced in supporting brands that sell into European, Middle Eastern, and South American markets.
Can I request samples before placing a bulk order?
Yes, we strongly encourage sampling before committing to bulk production. Evaluating actual product performance is an important step in building a confident supply relationship. Contact us with your product specifications and intended fishing application, and we will arrange samples for your review and testing. This is standard practice in our partnership process.
How do you conduct pre-shipment quality inspection?
Before any order leaves our facility, our QC team conducts a pre-shipment inspection covering key performance parameters: breaking strength, knot strength, diameter tolerance, and visual appearance. We verify that the product matches the agreed specifications and that packaging and labeling are correct. Inspection results are documented and can be shared with customers upon request. For customers who require third-party inspection, we can coordinate access for your appointed inspection agency.
What raw materials do you use, and how do you ensure their quality?
The quality of the finished fishing line starts with the quality of the raw material. We source nylon (polyamide) for monofilament and QH series lines, PVDF for fluorocarbon lines, and high-tenacity PE fibers for braided lines from established suppliers with consistent material specifications. Incoming raw materials are checked before entering production to ensure they meet our quality standards. Using consistent, quality raw materials is a foundational step in delivering reliable finished product performance.
How do you handle quality complaints or non-conforming products?
We take quality complaints seriously and treat them as opportunities to improve. If a customer reports a quality issue, our team investigates the root cause, reviews the relevant production batch records, and works with the customer to reach a fair resolution. We believe that how a supplier responds to problems is just as important as the quality of the product itself. Our goal is to resolve issues quickly and transparently, and to implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
Can you provide test reports or quality documentation with our order?
Yes. We can provide quality test reports documenting the performance results of your specific production batch, including breaking strength, knot strength, and diameter measurements. These documents are useful for your own quality records and may be required by some retail buyers or import authorities. If you need specific documentation formats or third-party lab test reports, please let us know your requirements in advance so we can plan accordingly.
How many production lines do you operate, and what is your capacity?
We operate 5 specialized production lines dedicated to different fishing line types and processes. This multi-line setup allows us to run different products simultaneously, maintain stable delivery schedules, and scale production to meet growing demand from our customers. Our production capacity is designed to support both regular repeat orders from established partners and new product introductions. Contact us with your volume requirements and we can confirm lead times and capacity availability.
How long has your company been manufacturing fishing lines?
Qiaohui Industrial Monofilament Co., Ltd has been manufacturing fishing lines for over 10 years. During this time we have developed deep expertise in monofilament extrusion, braiding, and fluorocarbon production, and have built long-term supply relationships with fishing brands across Europe, the Middle East, and South America. Our experience means we understand the quality expectations of different markets and can help you navigate product development efficiently.
Do you test for UV resistance and long-term durability?
UV degradation is a real concern for fishing lines used in outdoor environments, particularly in high-sun regions such as the Middle East and South America. Our material formulations for outdoor-use products include UV stabilizers to slow degradation from prolonged sun exposure. We evaluate UV resistance as part of our product development process. If your target market involves high UV exposure conditions, let us know and we can ensure the appropriate material specification is applied to your product.
How do you ensure quality remains consistent across large repeat orders?
Consistency across repeat orders is achieved through documented production parameters that are locked in after an approved sample is confirmed. Once your product's specifications are established and a sample is approved, we record all relevant production settings -- material grades, extrusion parameters, processing conditions -- and apply them consistently to every subsequent production run. This systematic approach is what allows us to deliver reliable batch-to-batch consistency that brands and their customers can depend on.
Are your fishing lines safe for food-contact applications such as ice fishing or fish farming?
Our standard fishing lines are manufactured using materials commonly used in the fishing industry globally. For applications with specific regulatory requirements -- such as lines intended for use near food-contact surfaces or in aquaculture environments -- material safety documentation may be required. Please contact us with your specific application and market requirements, and we will advise on the appropriate materials and any available compliance documentation we can provide.
